jbl 180.2

Post by Scarrell »

guys.. i got my JBL 180.2 today. :sm29: BUT.. after hooking it up.. setting everything to flat..etc.. all your basic junk.. i turn it up. start to set everything and "ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" my damn midranges are makin this horrible noise like im playin a f$ckin 50hz tone on them or something, i turn the car off with the quickness and they still do it for a few seconds and finally quit! im like "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHH" i didnt know what the hell happend.. i checked the ground and all that. everything is cool... i turn the car back on, they work fine.. i turn the gains down and $hit and turn it up and "ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" again!!... this time smoke rolls out of the midranges..i turn the car off and they still do it with the car off for a few seconds.. im thinking "mother f#cker..i blew them and the amp" i turn the car back on.. Everything works fine.. the tweets work/sound good(even the messed up one works fine now, i guess it was a power issue) but the mids distort and sound like ass ofcourse now.... so what do you guys think it is? i think it may be that the gains are still up to high(my problem is.. when i turn the dials all the way down, it doesnt match up with the "0" or anything so im having to guess a Little bit) the crossovers are f#cked.. or speaker wire is lose somewheres.. all in all.. its time for some new comps.. i think i may get them CDT's here directly.. but i wanna figure out whats going on first.. its raining off and on here so i cant do much, so i will probably take the door panels off tomorrow and re-wire everything.. and see what get from there..

NOTE: they only "mess" up at higher volumes.. my cd player goes to 62 and i keep it at 40, higher than 50 they "mess up"

The amp is clipping. That amp likes power, just triple check your gains.
