Kicker ZX1500.1 Overheating?
Hey, I just put in my system, and it seems I have a problem. The amp, especially where the gain control and all that is, gets extremely hot. If you were to touch it for a long time you would burn yourself. I don't understand what the problem would be? everything seems to wired up properly, and I haven't even tooken the bass boost knob over half way, since I am still breaking in the subs. Any ideas anyone?

X2 on ventilation. Also, is your electrical system equipped to handle the need of that amp. Have you upgraded big 3 or alternator? What size power and ground wire are you running? Where did you ground?
If your electrical system has not been upgraded then yes, your amp will get hot. That amp is drawing I would imagine 150-200 amps from your vehicle. A stock alternator usually puts out no more than 90 amps. I would upgrade the electrical system if it has not already been done ASAP.

make sure you have it wired to receive no more then a 2 ohm load. it will take less even though it says it cant but the result will be an amp that gets really hot.
i run mine on two l7 15's and yes it gets hot but not so hot that it would burn me thats for sure. mine have great ventalation placed high in the middle of the truck

X2, as long as you have it in a place that has some ventilation then you're fine. Those amps have a built-in-fan I believe. Hell some amps you can fry an egg on.....so don't worry about your amp gettin hot.and theres really no reason to hold your hand on there anyway, amps are gunna get hot
