I'm fortunate as well, we have very good nursing homes in our area. Hospitals are also outstanding, especially in Athens and Augusta.

You can't say enough about caring medical professionals, they definately don't get the appreciation they deserve. It's sad that poor work ethic exists in a field that's so important. I'm sorry your cousin's grandmother had to go through this, as well as your cousin's friend.

CaptainPioneer wrote:I have to contest this last post^^ Maybe where you are located Nursing homes suck, but a good deal of them in CT are amazing and both my Grandfather and my Great-Grandmother were in the very capable hands of nurseing professions. Also our Hospice up here is awesome as well!
That is why I said they are few and far between.

good homes exist, but there are plenty of bad ones, as well.
The ones around here are full, hard to get placements in, and not that great. We see news stories about old people wandering out of them, and being found dead a couple weeks later out in the woods, and so forth.. it's not great.
For this, they charge upwards of 5 to 10 grand/month.

Anyway, regardless of quality and cost, it IS going to cost you and your family, so it would be wise to get the hospital to pay for their mistake in that regard. Continuing care for the disabled/elderly is an ivolved process.
