Me .22 Ruger

Post by William from NOLA »

I finally shot my rifle that I had bought last month, yesterday and today. It was fun. Got to do it on a friend's 600 acre plot of land!

This was my first time shooting my dad's 357, too. I've got video:

My dad's Ruger 38 Special takes 38's (obviously) and 357's. The 38's are the "lesser" impact. The very first shot I did of the 357 sent my ears ringing for about 6 hours. After that first shot, I wore hearing protection fricken religiously. My .22 isn't nearly as loud as the 357, so I didn't really need earplugs with that.

I know my aim sucks, but I'm in dire need of new glasses. I sat on my newest pair about a year ago lol. So the ones I'm using now are ... dated. lol

My cousin and I took about 10 sheets of metal 4'x8' and drew bad guys on them, then we spread them out in the woods and played sniper... :happy055:

^^ Yeah ^^ did you kill anything with it? I used to take my dads 22 and kill birds, raccoons, squirrels, anything that was living that I could site, with exception of the livestock!

Things I saw were:
1 Doe (didn't want to shoot)
1 Squirrel (too far away and ran off)
1 Water Moccassin (dove underwater the second I got the rifle up to my face)
5-7 Turkey (man, two males were HUGE!!!) out of season so I didn't shoot.

yeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw!! lol That reminds me of the good 'ol days! We used to go to walmart and buy those "buckets" of .22 shells, and just shoot all day long! aahhh good times :D

Something fun to try, if you reload or know someone who does, check out the maximum safe amount of powder to use in a 357(forgot) and put it behind a heavy slug.....Then load one of those with 5 38's, then let your buddy shoot it!! lmao good times...

Dude you need to go hunting here. I came about 5 ft from hitting a wild boar a second ago, and the deer are HUGE. Ok the red deer are huge, the black tails are pretty small.

I was heading out the other night and saw a herd of deer. Probably 5 or so bucks, and a doe and her baby. I know ther was more, but they were up in the feild were I couldn't see them. Last year the same heard crossed in front of me and I counted 21 deer.

Ok back to the bucks. The biggest had a rack on him that just didn't stop. I didn't have a perfect view, but I would say 7 or 8 points on one side of his rack. He made this guys rack look small.

I have my doubts of killing deer with a .22, lol. Actually, a redneck kid told a friend of mine that he killed a deer with a BB gun, right throught the eyes!

I had actually brought the 357 in case I ran into a boar. Those things are scarey.

Yeah this one scared the crap out of me. I knew they were here, but all I ever see is deer. So I was looking for deer eyes, and saw something moving down low. Hit the brakes and across the road she went. Thats when I saw the baby on the other side.
