Michael Jones of Lubbock, TX, recorded 176.4 dB.

Damn, you can never know who and what is legit though. Sigh* will we ever get a set Record? I bet ya someone somewhere will find a higher record... lol well anyway thanks for the update.

There will never be a permanent record. As money and technology continue to increase, higher dBs will be attained in future competitions.

Unless Bill Gates decides to unload his entire financial assets and create a 200dB+ car...

Bill Gates would only need to spend about 1 hours worth of interest to build a 200+ dB car. I was watching a show on him a while back. They said he could give every person in the U.S. $1 and would still the most money in america or somethin like that. He will never be able to spend all his money he has so much......

Actually, 200db will never be recorded in any audio system, because of atmospheric conditions. Not sure on the exact number, but i believe the atmosphere can only support somethin in the 180db range..somone correct me if i'm mistaken.

That would be pretty cool. And that brings up another point, celebrities and their car stereos. Sure they have all this money and all of these nice cars, but do you ever see any of them doing anything with their car stereo? I know I sure as hell haven’t seen anything special from a celebrity. I just don’t understand it, they have the money, and even if they don’t have the knowledge and skill, it’s not like they couldn’t hire someone who does have it. You’d think they would be the ones setting the spl records and such. The few celebrities who do modify there stereos don’t do anything special. Lol in fact the majority of them put in some bazooka tubes or some of them Audiobahn’s. I figure they see the chrome and figure if it’s shiny hell it must be goodJ.

Also what is the deal with Pimp My Ride? That’s almost comical. There Electronics whiz has the intelligence of a 3 year old. Not once has he ever done what I would consider a decent install. Bazooka Tubes and Audiobahn are all he uses.
