Actually the GPS is not "true" gps, it is like a mapquest software package. You get turn by turn rather than the satellite knowing where you are. The CD7000 is navigation ready, but not GPS. Big difference.

Also the 8445 or 8455 will do what you want, Eclipse is very expensive on HD radio and only about 15% of the stations nationwide are using the format, so for my 400 bucks, I can't justify it. YOu can get Sirius satellite radio through the 8445, 8455, cd5000 and cd 7000 I believe. This is a better option cause it is still CD-quality reception.

Just my offering of bs on this forum. Do with it as you will.

Joe

although I did find this out...please excuse my usage of Crutchfield, they don't have a flash site.

anywhoo...here it is: GPS-like doo dad

although out of the box this is true, you can buy a gps add on for the cd7000 for around 200 bucks, probably less on ebay. and it will tell you where you are and change the map accordingly, as well as use the gps for other functions like a compass and what have you.

But its still not a true gps system. It can only show where you are on the map you download. If you decide to take a detour your screwed.
