?? Isnt virus vulnerability usually an issue with software, not hardware? If so, how is having windows on a mac any better than having it on a PC?lotas wrote:The new Macbook, the way to go. Don't have to worry about viruses, if you're used to Windows, you can run Windows.

Just seems like having a laptop is much more efficient… less space, portable, and since they aren’t astronomically expensive I figure why not.CaptainPioneer wrote:My question to you is why do you want a Laptop?
I might wait till a sale goes on but not sure if I’m going to have time because I’m going to need something for college.
humm I don’t know what amd turion 64bit or 1 gag ram means. God I’m bad with computersDarthness wrote:i got a great HP laptop for $1000... amd turion 65bit, 1gig ram, wireless internet, dvd/cd burner, 100gb hard drive. works fine for me.
I have heard good things about HP too… you guys seem to like them. The cost might be an issue tho.
Do you think the specs are going to matter… the only game I have every really played is warcraft 3 and I don’t see myself playing many games in college. I just want something to be fairly fast and able to hold A LOT of music. Sooo does anyone have a suggestion on what kinda specs I should look for?
I found out about the TV deal… it turns out all you need is a “TV tuner” I gotta see how much that costs :/

Careful with the TV tuners a lot of them suck balls. You really should get a Laptop that has a High end Video and sound card and then either buy a good tv tuner card or look to upgrade your Laptop's Video card to a multi purpose tv out and tv in card. Built in TV Tuner... Some are good some are not...
As far as the comment about Kaspersky.... I will pretend like i didnt see that..
I have the Corporate version of McAfee 8.1 and the beta 9 and they absolutely blow away the competition.

Bill No flack here man! I hear ya on that... I will vouch for the Higher Line Dell's. I have never had to fix one ever! And i have been fixing laptops for about 3-4 years now and never has a High line Dell come across my desk... These are the ones you would probably want to stay away from:
Low line Dells, Some HP even there higher line isnt completely exempt (I tried to fix a girls laptop but the HD failed completely and had to be replaced and that was a 2,200 laptop. Never Buy Aver ever! Low line Toshiba's but not all of them (you could get lucky) E-Machine desktops suck so i would imagine that their laptops are worse... Compaq laptops are terrible they are the lower division of HP.
I reccomend... anyhting that Alienware makes with the exception of their lowest line laptop. High end HP's, Toshibas, Dells, IBM's, and i have never had to fix a Sony VIO line ever.
And i totally agree with Car gods about the Dual processsor
