Oh crap...

It kinda makes me a little mad... heres the story!

My great aunt has kidney problems so she has to go in for dialysis 3 times a week. The clinic is about 30-40 mintues away and it takes about 4 hours at the clinic, so give or take a little your gone for 5-5.5 hours.

She has 2 daughters, both of which has pretty much ALWAYS lived with her and relied heavily on her... Now, not only do they live with her, but so do their kids.. One has a 13 yo, the other one has a 19 yo and 22 yo... The 19 and 22 year old both have cars soley because of their grandma (my great aunt) and the same goes for their mom...

Now, for some reason I'm always the one who gets called to take her to her appointments. Granted I'm self employed so I can take off easier, but I'm still losing jobs/money...

I seriously dont mind taking her when its not possible for the others to take her, but it really pisses me when she calls and tells me she doesnt have a ride and wants to know if I can take her, then when I get there 2-3 of them will be laying around watching tv...

Anways, she calls over here last night and tells my sister (we share an apartment) to have me pick her up this morning because she needs a ride.. So now instead of working like I intended I get to go sit in a waiting room for 4 hours...

I'm seriously really frustated about this crap, I think I'm just going to call her and tell her to get one of them to take her, after all she supports them....

If I was a violent person... well lets just say I wouldnt be typing this to vent...

Thats sucks man. I see the same type of stuff all the time and it drives me nuts.

I'm feeling used... I know if I called them and asked them to take my grandma somewhere they'd laugh in my face, I know this because it's happpened... I love my aunt but she does this to me all the time because she doesnt want to bother them, but hello, they live off her... I think I'm done being used.

I hear ya Mobile...my mom was in the same situation as you a few years back, and that's complete bullshit for you. If their kids are that old that's ridiculous...when I read you said they had kids I thought "Oh well if they're young they can't just leave the kids at home etc" But hell...that seems ridiculous to me. Just because you're self-employed doesn't mean you can afford to not work for that long during a day.

It's sad when people think that others were put on this earth just to serve them.
My suggestion, talk to your aunt. Don't tell her you won't take her anymore, but instead explain the situation to her and the fact that since you do own your own business you have more bills to pay then they do (especially since they all live with her). Your aunt sounds like more than just a good hearted person and I'm sure she'll understand.

just tell her you'd better have a good place in her will.
also tell the daughters/grandkids that it's now their job to take her to dialysis, and if you ever get called, show up, and they're sitting around, ou're walking right back out the door and going back to work.

I've spent years on dialysis myself, and I can tell you it's no picnic to sit through, nor is it any fun relying on others to get anywhere you need to go.

Same deal with me and my dad... we always have to take my Grandmother to the Doctors or to go shopping all the time even though my Aunt lives right next door to her in the same house (inlaw setup) Easily my cousin Victoria could take her or my Aunt but they never do. They dont even take the trash out for her, and alot of times wont even inviter her over for Dinner if has nothing... It sucks and I still love my aunt and cousins but its not fair to my father and Me. Oh yea and my older brother refuses to go over there because he hates my Aunt and they dont speak so its just me and my dad to do it... My mom, well she kinda doesnt like to hang around my grandma too much cause she kinda complains alot lol but she is old she kinda deserves to.

I know that dialysis isnt any fun, and I do feel for my aunt.

They could work out there schedules and take her most of the time, its that they are to lazy. I don't mind taking her SOME of the time, but its not fair to make me take her MOST of the time. And its not really the fact that I dont want to take her, its that I can't afford too... I have bills coming up and dont have the money to pay them, its to the point where I HAVE to work or be screwed.

tell the kids that, and say look, I'll take her (every other friday) or whatever.. set a schedule. tell them it's their problem the rest of the time.
also contact FIA and see if they have a mileage reimbursement program.
I know MI does, if your aunt is on medicaid.. they pay you like 12 cents/mile if she gets a form signed, each trip for medical transit.
it doesn't cover gas, but it helps.

I know that theres a program called ride share, they will come and get her and take her to her appointments for free, but her dumb a** daughter told her NOT to sign up for that...

Let me try to explain this...

My aunt and uncle bought a new d.wide trailer and 2 acres of land out in the country like 30 years ago, up until my uncle died (about 10 years ago) it stayed well maintained and clean...

Then once he died her kids/grand kids started to totally trash the place, they had like 10 dogs and 10-15 cats in the house... Instead of cleaning up the poop they argue over who's dog laid down the turd, one wasnt willing to clean the others dogs poop up, so it just stayed there... It was so bad that the piss was rotting the floors out... On a few different occasions my uncle (my grandma's son) and I went over and spent days cleaning and replacing floors...

Finally it just got so bad that they moved out and rented a house (instead of cleaning the old one)...

So now she is scared to use their new address because she thinks the gov will try to take her other house... I dont know her reasoning behind this, I think thats what her daughter told her, obviously the daughter isnt real bright person...
