Read channels/pre-outs

Post by solacedagony »

I was wondering how the head unit decides what material is to go to the rear pre outs. How I setup my system is I put the sub amp on the rear preouts and I put the speaker amp on the front pre outs. Am I losing any material by putting the sub stage on the rear pre-outs as opposed to Y-ing the RCAs for the front and using the front for both? (By using both, if I want more bass in a certain song, I can simply fade to the rear and it'll quiet my front stage so I get more bass. A lot of the music I listen to isn't recorded all that well, so sometimes it takes a little balancing.)

simple answer, no, ur not "losing any material" unless ur using crossovers.

front and rear outputs get the same signal, attenuation controlled by the fader adjustment.
F/R are in parallel.
sub outputs are controlled by the built in crossover if you have sub outs.

Ok, I was under the impression that the rear channels got a modified signal from the front. Thanks for the clarification.
