Premier deck dying...help b4 I have to eulogize

The graphic display screen is no longer illuminated. It progressively became worse over 4 days. Initially the graphics just appeared distorted, then only half the screen was illuminated, and now... no illumination. The graphics are still there, if I get REALLY close at night-time I can make the screen out though...otherwise the deck is fully functional...

Is there anything I can do? I can't really afford a new one anytime soon so I have the option of riding with this one for a while, downgrading to my old deck that doesn't play mp3s (oops, not an option), borrowing my friends Kenwood exelon deck (not sure of model but supposedly exelon is their top of the line series), or pray there is a solution I can find online...

Any input? Thank you...

Oh, by the way, I know how I messed it up. I was being lazy when reinstalling it and instead of taking out the sleeve and arranging the wires for a smooth fit, I forced it in with...well, a lot of force. Initially the deck wouldn't work at all even when I reset it repeatedly and disconnected and reconnected it. I thought I broke it completely! Then all of a sudden, it was working perfectly and then problems as described above.... it is not covered under warranty (I've had it for around two years anyhow)

I reset it and tried to clean the connection point between the deck and faceplate with no resolution...

Take it out, you may just have a sliced wire behind the deck.

I looked and that's not the case. After I forced it in, I went ahead and took the sleeve out and put it in properly.

The illumination went out gradually...

either have it repaired or buy a new deck.....if it isnt the wiring its internal it sounds like

Darn. Thanks. I'll just use it, make any necessary adjustments at nightime when the car is not in motion, and be happy with it until I can grab another one.

I don't think my buddy will come through with his deck but we'll see.

I would wait as you said.

I had a deck go out like that a long time back (older Alpine) and just continued to use it. The bass and trebbile were already set and the only other adjustment was volume and track #...

You also maybe able to find a pioneer repair shop that is near you and get an amount for how much it would cost to fix. I had a simular incident a few yrs ago and did that and it wasn't really to much?
