I am adding a 150 watt (RMS) sub to my 4 speaker setup (Polk db's, 50 watts RMS each) and have been shopping around for an amp. Is a good option for me to get a 5-channel amp, or is there a better less expensive way to go with wiring 5 speakers to either 2 or 4 channels? Thanx in advance..

a 5 channel amp would be a good idea since you're only running 150w. thats the typical output of the 5th channel of amps.

Thanks for the confirmation. Gonna go with the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 9.0:5 5-Channel

I was going to go with that but I figured I wanted more power to my sub.
