All i can say to all of your above posts is WOW.. I understand that you are new to this hobby but come on use a little common sense. Use the diagrams, and the infromation we have posted to set up your amp/subs the right way. Stop trying to hook them up your way because your "Blowing your transistor?" :argh . It really isn't as hard as you are making it. Just take your time, check back here as your doing it, and wire the subs up. Describe what you have done, and how you attempted to wire them, and if we all say it sounds good, the go ahead and give the amp power.
Have a good one

Edit: If for some reason you haven't looked at the link that JeremyC has posted for what ever reason here is the diagram he's trying to show you (Attached image )

Ist off, that boss amp isnt going to do anywere near what it says. 2nd off, what gauge wire are you running. 3rd, do you have a MICKEY MOUSE head unit. What i mean is this, dose the HU even have a remote wire, most of the time, its the STR8 BLUE wire. As someone said earlier in this thread, we need more info to help you. Even if you get that BOSS to play, you will become power hungry and test its ability to drive more power, and its not going to do that. I will give you an example, you say that boss is 1600 watts, i have an old mmats 1200 watts on the shelf collecting dust, and Im willing to bet the farm, that mmats would run circles around that BOSS. You have to have QUALITY TO HAVE SOUND QUALITY!!!!!!

^^X2 on the amp part. Get rid of that, and get something decent. Well tell him to get rid of everything and start off with something else.

First thing i know about boss is that yea they suck, and ill admit, it was my first amp, untill i got smart... well smarter lol hehe anyway that particular model will run 2 ohms at 2 channels 800w each, obviously overstated... What u will need to do is wire both of your subs, u said they are Dual 4 ohm in a Parallel u can find this diagram at this adress just incase ur unsure:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/support_pages.php?page_id=161

Make sure u are using at least 4 guage wire... at least 40amp fuses... and make sure that ur ground is clean and your power wire is not frayed or touching anything that could ground out... Also turn the Level on that amp down to like 1/4 and gain down to about the same... if it still smokes out its ur subs because that is the best and only way with those subs that will make them play...

I could be off about those fuses though so if someone else has a better suggestion besides, Buy new and better stuff help him out cause, it is definitely easier to say buy better equipment then to help him work with what he has. Just trying to be supportive :)
