Again,

I dont see anyone objecting to our list. Just hexing it....

IMO that whole deal is based directly off our list. As it stands Im not aware of such a list anyware. Nobody has been so bold to copy it, and if they did I would probably hit them on a copyright issue :D

Thats our list, we put the time into it :)

Yea, on carsound.com I saw his post from the creator. I asked him to at least reference the site he used but only because it was so similar to our list. So now we have a link from that page. :thumbsup

Here are two relevant threads in CAF on this topic.

The ultimate car audio brand opinion poll
http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/showt ... p?t=211373

A ranking of mainstream and smallstream brands
http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/showt ... p?t=211119

It is obvious that a poster named "Pyle" copied the list from CAC verbatim. But he/she did give credit/reference.

Edit: On a side note, CAF often gets more traffic than their server can handle. So please be patient and reload the page in a few minutes if you encounter a busy signal. Their admins seems reluctant to do any upgrades.

I really dont give a rats ass if they give credit or not.

If they want they can link to it and discuss it, but a copy is not going to fly.

Hmmm, this is about to get interesting....

That is just straight up stealing from us, word for word. I wrote a message to the owner of the message board....

Hello my name is Justin Emerson and I an owner of the website Car Audio Central, located at CarAudioCentral.net. It has come to my attention that a user on your message board has blantantly stolen, word for word, a post in our FAQ/Guide section. The post in question is "A ranking of mainstream and smallstream brands" by user "Pyle". We are starting by asking kindly that this post be removed from your message board. You are more then welcome to link your viewers to our message board where they can view this list, but you MAY NOT repost it without permission from one of the owners of Car Audio Central. Since one of your members posted it without permission, I am hoping you have the decency to remove it ASAP.

Thank You, feel free to respond with any questions.
Justin Emerson

We will see if he complies, if not, I WILL pursue farther.

I wrote a message to the owner. Basicly putting it that it is copyrighted material and that this is considered copyright infringement and must be removed.

If one of us - Chris, Justin or I give written permission then it may be used. Otherwise it is illegal.

Much work has been placed into the FAQ section as a whole. If we let one thing like this slide pretty soon our whole FAQ will be loaded onto other sites.

If they do not comply I will seek legal action- end of story. I have devoted WAY to much time to this board to have our FAQ/Knowledge get raped like this.

IT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED

Furthermore, what good does it to steal our post. THen complain about it elsewhere? The sensible thing to do is post about it here where it came from...

Anyone know who this Pyle person is?

I think it's time to put a copyright notice on the bottom and top of the list. This should go for all FAQ posts as well. ESPECIALLY Kiki's, he's put a LOT of time into many of those which I don't want to see just ripped off.

If the post is not cleaned up removed in a timely manner I will be seeking legal avenues.

We will not stand idley by while people rip off the hard work of ours and our members.

It is not required by law to display the Copyright deal, but is wise. We can still lay claim to the list as we have it first and have proff of it.

From this point forward you must be a registered CAC member to view our FAQ's.

THis will help protect us and stop people from stealing our FAQ's. I talked with Justin about making the FAQ section a Platinum only section but we decided not to go that route. So this is the first step.

Thanks,
-Ryan
