Also, no way in hell you could rep and run a shop. Repping is a full time job. I have to drive to a bunch of different states. Unless I was my shop open 1 day a week, no way it would be possible.

So being a rep is a full time job in and of itself. I guess it wouldn't be possible to run a shop and be a distributor at the same time.

My heart is in installs. I love doing it. And what better way to make money than doing something you really enjoy doing? In about 10 years, I'll have 20 years in the military. My girlfiend, soon to be wife, almost has her degree in accounting. So we'll have that going for us also.

You know Bill, if you were serious about that, in 10 years, I wouldn't mind getting involved in a business with someone, building up that location, then branching out to Michigan to get my own shop going as part of a chain of sorts. Not even that I guess, I think the cooping of buying equipment would be heavily beneficial. Plus that advertisement benefits and what not.

Either way, I've got several years to figure it all out. The other half of what I've become very interested in lately is home stereo speakers. I've got a few designs I want to build in the next few years. After the Jeep is done of course.

Being a rep would pay the bills, but that's why I'm in the military right now. When I retire from the military I want to do what I enjoy. And stereo's is it.

DO NOT open a shop in MI. Unless things change within the next 10years, MI has one of the worst economies in the USA> I hate MI and will move as soon as I can. 2nd highest unemployment rate in the US. Noonewants to spend money.

That's sorta true. However, in the UP there are a lot of rich folks who allow their kids to be spoiled. There's a lot of money floating around in the U.P. And in my hometown area, there are only two places who do car stereos. A home theater/t.v store that also has a small room for car audio and a music instrument/cd store that also has some stereo stuff in the back. The kids there are starving for a real shop. Even a small one. I have all the confidence I could have a very successful business there.
