Seriously, I'd be careful of such lists... too much of it is based on heresay. Granted, there are some brands out there like Cuspid, Pyramid, Roadmaster... that you really want nothing to do with. Problem is, I've seen quality get mixed in with the junk.

For example, Sony headunits... I really like mine quite a bit, and I'm not alone with my feelings. It was actually suggested to me by a friend who first bought a high end Clarion deck. Turned out he really hated a couple things about it... he went to Walmart and bought a Sony, and his "glowing review" prompted me to try one. (I did go a few steps above the Walmart model)

You'll see companies like Fusion and Planet audio on the junk lists... and from what I read, this stuff is not bad amp-wise. Pretty popular in Canada.

As for Visonik, they have a big monster amp which apparently had problems in competition. Almost seems like a common trend with high current, unregulated amps though... not enough juice and they shit the bed. But that said, I did see a Visonik powered vehicle (with my own eyes) do really well at IASCA finals.

I believe it comes down to a simple question... what are your needs?
If you have a tight budget, or it's just a junk car, or similar situations, you don't need to spend alot to get results. I mean, all you're asking for is a product that will do it's rated specs and do so reliably.

I've had that sort of luck with an Audiobahn Dub amp.

If you're looking to buy the very best, then no, Visonik and Audiobahn should'nt be contenders for your money. But if you're just looking to get by, and enjoy, and someday go further... cheap brands like Lightning Audio, Bahn, etc... really should work fine.

How you use the stuff is another factor to consider. I would'nt trust some brands under high stress useage. Certainly competitions fall under high stress. Now if we're talking a 400 watt monoblock sub amp for daily driving... technology is at a point where almost anything should be capable of doing the job.

Ya but who wants cheaply built Audiobahn, LA, Visionik, products in their ride? Anyone here will tell you they're not gonna go with any of those products. For the price of those mainstream companies, you can still find top quality for the same price.

False, in a great many cases.

You can get things on closeout, like a guy I know who got four new Audiobahn subs for $20 a piece. I know another guy who picked up a 650wt Lightning Audio amp for $20, new, at walmart no less. Lightning Audio coaxials, which sound damn good, $20 a pair, at walmart.

The main g/b/u list is mostly based on my personal experience as a bench-tech and authorized repair center tech for a number of the brands listed, and having first hand experience as an installer and in sales with most of the rest. The list isn't based on personal bias, which is obvious since I listed audiobahn's amps as "good" even though I personally despise the company. Also as noted in the caveat of the list at the top of the thead, the list is merely a starting point for those without the personal exposure to most of the companies out there.

WHY? Cause most people don't know the diffrence. They see flash, and chrome and think that looks expencive, I bet it sounds good. No offence G man, I am sure that truck does sound good. But I also know why you put those subs in there, and that they were not your first choice. :happy055:

Oh and Gonz, Glass isn't the only person that has put work into that list. Alot of us have made sugestions and input into getting it where it is today. So no, I haven't used every brand on the list, and can say no one one here has. But once you put us and our experiance together, its a whole diffrent story.

While equipment quality is paramount, install quality is even more important. I'm more impressed with a good install of "crap" equipment than seeing $1000 worth of speakers installed halfass. A good install of lesser speakers will beat a poor install of top of the line speakers every time. Even stock systems have won competitions before (with tuning and added effort in installation of course).

You can bullshit me all you want, I ment on THIS forum no one wants to run it. And why would I care what some dumbass overpaid football player buys? Since he has audiobahn should I GO GET IT?? Hell no, if I had that kinda money, I would have got something worth a damn. (even tho he runs audision amps, and focal speakers,I believe) But I wouldn't have gone with Abahn.
