Well Bill, you are most certainly welcome to come out. There is a room all ready for you if you need it.
No, for my son, he will get most likely the setup that we discussed.
maybe my wife's little Ascender can benefit from the Audisons
Put in a couple of JL 10w3's powered by the 1.400 and run some XR component off the 2.150's. Probably have to do the clean sweep too. But hell, I would be halfway there, would just need the components. Wait....how about Bravox components and subs...hmmmm.
The way I see things, it would make a hell of a front stage amp at 300w x2
And concerning sub duties, a JL Slash 1000/1 and single 13w7 in a sealed enclosure...
i know im gonna get ripped for this but........id just as soon lather my dingus with sausage gravy and run through a weight watchers convention as have a 1000/1 and a 13w7 in my car....not because its bad equipment but because every wanna be gansta in my neck of the woods who doesnt realize this is kentucky either has that setup or knows soemone who does and it hits so hard that if you rolled down the windows whilst....yes whilst, jamming to some purple ribbon all stars you would literally compress the atmosphere to the point that the fabric of reality would tear and you would momentarily find yourself in an alternate plane of existence....
And I question why this only seems to exist in the car audio industry :
I mean, I've had Ford trucks for the majority of my driving "career". All have been excellent trucks. By the time I've been done with the trucks I've had over 300,000 miles on all of them except the one I'm currently still driving. After that type of track record, do I refuse to buy another because it's the best selling? Or because Joe Blow down the street from me has one and I think he smells funny? I don't get it. Perhaps because I'm not in audio "circles" anymore and I don't own/work in a shop where I hear it on a daily basis. Maybe also because most of my dealings with JL occured a few years ago (they haven't declined since, just expanded their offerings and gained popularity).
Do we blame the high end home audio industry for the same thing? The ones that don't produce their own stuff are all pulling DST and SEAS drivers off a shelf, with most of them using the same drivers because they're well proven to be the best performers in given areas? At what point does a company's success become a liability?
i just like to get you worked up.......seriously though for whatever reason i may have my opinion it doesnt need to make sense to you and it doesnt have to amount to anything more than i choose not to follow you off the cliff....we could sell jl at the shop i work at...i have owned several setups utilizing jl amps, subs and components over about the last 10-15 years and i have never been real happy with any of it except for the comps but i also choose to pull my pants up, wear my hat straight and also not to make my car a full scale replica of those little cars babies push around by leaving the huge ass spoiler on the aircraft it was designed for rather than install it on my nissan
