please take a look at the date. And how the person has gotten banned. :)
you sure about that? Them JL amps are some serious performers. Take a look at their patented list on it.Dont waste your money on 2 amps, but one good one like the one I mentioned. It will school any JL amp

Yes I am sure.. and I never said JL does not perform, they make pricey amplifiers and they are good... but you can get just as good, or if not way better performers for cheaper, and you definatly can get ALOT more power from one amp as opposed to JL were you need multiple of them to do the same.
You would need 2 Jl 1000/1 to do only what the RATED power is of the 2000X. Nevermind the fact that the 2000X is underated and can do OVER 3000RMS as its been benched and proven to do so.

You know the gain matches the input stage to the head units line output voltage right?stfo wrote:I have it running 2 Memphis LVS 15's and the gain is not even half way.
Either way, yes you can get an amp that puts out more that the JL. But how many of those amps can put out 1000 watts rms at 12 to 14.4 volts from 1.5 to 4 ohm. Thats one of the reasons for the high price of the JL. Yeah the name does add a little to it, but in all honesty. Its hard to beat the build and technoligy of a JL amp when used within its intended purpose.
Yes I see your point if the guy wants one '1000 watt rms' amplifier, but he has 2 W7's. Hes going to need a second 1000/1 and its better to simply go with one very good amplifier for that application. Trust me I tried the same thing he did, and not only is he going to be paying more than double what he needs to be, 2 amplifiers with draw more.
you're full of it. you're comparing an amp that puts out 2000w to an amp thats only designed to put out 1000w... I could see the JL amps claimed 3000w and only did 1000... but they do what they say they will. and 2000watts with 1 amp or 40 amps draws the same amount of current, only differences on amp efficency & voltage.... and another thing, a 1000/1 puts out 1000w from 12-15 volt, 1-4ohms, you probably have to run that us amps amp at 1ohm or less to get anywhere near 3000w which = less efficeiency, less life time

You can't get wattage without current. As the wattage goes up, so does the current. And without a bad ass electrical system, you can pretty much forget 3k of power anyway. Roughly speaking, if your amps were 100 percent efficient and you had a 160 amp alternator and the amps were getting 100 percent of the 160 amps of current, the most you could achieve would be about 2.3k watts. If I remember my roughly translated ohms law. current times voltage, right? I know that's not the most accurate way to figure that, but it's close. 14.4 volts from the alternator at 160 amps of current draw is 2,304 watts. Right? Or did I screw that up? It's been a while since I've dealt with this.
