another fried amp...but not mine this time

ok my buddy has 2 12" JL W6v2s......he's running them with a Directed D1200...all brand new...he just had them installed by my local shop no mroe than a week ago....he also has an Alumapro 5 Farad Cap....its in a Lincoln LS hooked up to the stock headunit.......they were running great but he blew fuses like 3 time and i changed them for him, a few nigths ago he was bumpin on them hard i guess and he blew the fuses again so he called me again top chnage his fuse(the fuses built onto the amp that it) and when i put one i nthe amp it sparked then it started pouring smoke...any ideas what caused it and how to prevent it next time?

did you have the power unhooked from the amp when you plugged in the fuse? Chances are no, you should do that before you plug in the fuse. And if it kept on blowing then that should have been a sign right there. Was it the right size fuse anyway

Yea, if they blew more than once, I would have taken the car back to the shop immediately. The less you mess with it, the more chance it'll be covered by the shop. They may not cover it now.

yeah they had two 30 amp fuses and they were replaced with 30 amp fuses.....its being taken back tmrw but i was just wondering what it might be to avoid problems again.....the power fuse to the fac was taken out, but i forgto all about the cap......cause i knwo the old one discharge when you turn the car off but the new ones don't i guess

the fuses are probably too small...deffiniately don't touch ti tand take it to the shop.
