Cheap but good 2ch amp and 1ch mono
I was thinking of posting a new topic, but I wont clutter.
If I buy the JBL 600.1 or MTX 6500D amp, they both dont have a subsonic filter, so I will have to buy an RCA level filter of some kind, yes? I am port tuning my box to around 30hz-32hz, so I will need a 30hz filter???
Any advice? What if I dont opt for the filter at all?

yes 30Hz is good but you want a steep filter, and the line level FMOD ones aren't, so you have to stack two of them on each input, so you have to buy 4 of them at $20 each.
better off buying an amp with an ISF built in already. Kicker perhaps?
Without an ISF on a ported box, you'll unload the sub at frequencies below the tuned port, and the sub will over-excurt due to lack of suspension, and the sub will basically eat itself.
You'll be buying a new sub, and if the coil(s) cause a dead short, a new amplifier, too.

yes. that's a small enough gap that it's not going to hurt anything.
There are a TON of decent entry level class D mono amps around though. Kicker was just one suggestion.
Avionixx, Hifonics, Elevation, even Planet Audio seems to be pretty highly regarded by those using the amps.

I think that's my favorite thing about my Kicker amps. I have run those things balls to the wall for over and hour before, my truck reaked of voice coil (I love the smell of voice coil in the morning) and my amps still weren't even warm to the touch.
hehe.
A bit of an off-topic... I noticed JL audio amps have identical power ratings (even at various ohms) from 11V to 14.5V e.g. "150 W RMS x 2 @ 1.5 ohm-4 ohm (11V-14.5V)".
MTX has RMS at 12.5 VDC and dynamic power 14.4 VDC, for which there is usually quite a difference.
Kicker rates RMS output at 12.5V and 14.4V, which there is also quite a difference, but varies from 2ohm (smaller difference) and 4ohm (greater).
Then theres some like JBL who just list RMS output in certain ohms, without any mention of voltage inputs to the amp!?
Which other amp companies have identical outputs at lower battery voltages? Buying JL would obviously benefit people with a standard battery and charging system, where voltage drops are more common???
Glass, care to elaborate (as you always do so well)??
