Yep, look on Ebay.
They are normally going for around 150-250.

Or you can find one that someone didn't know what it was, and thought it was a 600.1 and get it for a $100 like I just did :happy055:

cterie, if you are planning to run that much power, i sure hope you also plan to upgrade your charging system(alternator). if not, i guarantee that your alternator will die very soon after you install that. you should take some time to read some of the FAQ threads, it helps a lot in understanding wattage, ohms, charging systems, etc.. basically everything you need to know in car audio. once you have done that, i bet you would be able to answer 75% of the questions you have asked already. enjoy!

cterie wrote:ok so If I forget these two then what do you guys recommend thats 1ohm stable and is say 250 or less. I dont want to go through ebay and I am looking for a mono amp that is at least 1400w rms at 1ohm or a 2 channel amp that is at least 600w rms at 1ohm.
you get what you pay for, and clean power costs money. the components to build a decent amp come at a price.
why do you really need that much pwoer anyway? I used to compete with a car that ran an IASCA rated 410 watts RMS total, and I was well into the 140dB range.
People have vast misconceptions about how much power they really need these days for a loud stereo.
You may want to read the Guides section thread on speaker power ratings, and what they really mean. This is a commonly misunderstood topic.

many good points made.
the amp may be rated for any amount of power, but that will always depend on if the charging system can supply that much current.
your mustang has may a 90A alternator, and 1500 watts RMS from a class D amp will draw upto 150A of current alone... that's not adding in what the car needs for the engine, lights, etc.

Also lower end companies inflate specs to attract those who don't know any better.. bigger numbers ooh and aaah people into buying inexpensive, poorly built products.
The fact is a reliable amp that will last you a good long while is going to cost some money. Better made products always will. R&D and parts cost more so the end result product does as well.

You just need to decide how important longevity, reliability, and quality are you you.

PS don't skimp on performance parts either. speed always costs money.. a lot of it. I know. I have a fairly quick car, and it wasn't cheap to build.

I already have a yellow top battery and I am going to get a 200 amp alternator so power wont be a problem I just needed an amp for the subs. I will definately read the FAQ threads. I didnt expect this post to be so big and detailed. haha I was just looking for peoples opinions on two amps but instead I found out they both sucked and hopfully now I can get the Hifonics one and be good.
