Phoenix Digital amps Good/bad??

Post by wrusprod »

just bought a phoenix digital, thinking it was phoenix gold. it is PD-392 600w amp. using it to drive 2 infinity ref 6.5 speakers. HU is Alpine CDA-9825. also have a bazooka 6100 driven by its own 100w amp. question is will this amp do a decent job. havent saw to much on this in search except that it is a copy of the name Phoenix Gold. dont know if i should stay with it or send it back. only cost $50.00 bucks so not that worried about it. just looking to see if anyone has had experience good or bad with these amps. thanks

For $50, you can't really expect much from it. No matter what it is. But as long as it works fine and you are happy with it, no reason to bring it back.

Honestly, it may not last more than 2 years, if that. Cheap amps are, well, built really cheaply.

"just bought a phoenix digital, thinking it was phoenix gold."

this is exactly why they used that name.. in hopes of confusing people.
they're about on par with pyramid, pyle, legacy, and rockwood.. if that's good or bad I'll leave up to you.

i think the legacy amps are really funny because they model them after the xplode amps so im sure those are a really gem when a company that makes them look up to sony for copying.

phoenix / phonics digital

Apparently, this Korean company based out of California has changed its name from Phoenix Digital to Phonics Digital. Perhaps pressure from the folks @ Phoenix Gold?
