RE XXX, box question

Post by Mithrandir »

Is it possible to power 2 12" RE XXX subs with 600 watts a piece and still have them reach their maximum potential in a sealed box? I want the whole range of frequencies sealed boxes give you, but I dont wanna have to buy like a 300 amp alternator and run like Uber 00 gauge wire.

On a stranger note. My cousin is running his 2 sony xplode 12s with his sony amp and has the gain up the whole way. It hasnt blown yet. Hes the luckiest guy ive ever met.

I doubt you can. With 1000 each you might be able to, but not 600. I was giving both of my 10" XXX's 550 each in a ported enclosure, and they never reached their max potential. They never bottomed out.

well is it worth it so i can expand later? I could buy another 1200 watt amp and run 2, but what kind of ho alt will i need. Id like to not spend 600 bucks on an alt lol. Or should I just buy 2 RE SE 12s

Well I can get you a good deal on a HO Alt. But if you are running 2400 watts, you'll need around a 250.
