Amp Help!
Ok, I don't know anything about car audio so, I'm gonna need some help. Ok, I bought four 10" subs, two Kicker Competition 10"s and two Cerwin Vega 10"s. All four have a peak power of 300w and 150 RMS.
Alright, my question is, I hear about these 2-channel and multi-channel amps and I know I need something around 600w, BUT I don't know anything about the whole 2-channel and multi-channel thing, so WHAT kind of amp do I need? And also, if you can help what kind of CD Deck do I need? Or does it really matter?
Thanks in advance,
Christi

Hay Christi I would consider dropping 2 of those subs. I know you probably want 4 tens, but with the subs being diffrent you will probably run into problems.
I would stay with the kicker comps, and drop the vegas, but thats just me.
Now befor we help you find an amp, we need to know more about your subs.
Are they single or dual voice coil, and how many ohms are each coil?

Being different brands you will need two amps. Or you can drop one set.
The problem lies with the Ohm value of each brand and its inherint design specs.
With that being said you cant hook all four up to one amp as a single channel.
What you can do is use a 2 channel amp. Parallel each brand and run two subs of the same kind into one channel.
The brands will have to be grouped together in its own box also, so they all 4 cant share the same airspace inside the box.

Maybe you should get rid of them all and look into a single sub? A 12 or 15? Something more reliable then the subs you have now. A decent 12 or 15 will sound a lot better then just mixing up random subs, and will be a lot easier to install.

you can find out if the subs are single or dual coil and the load per coil by removing them from the boxes and looking at the back of each magnet or by the terminals.
they will be labeled 2 or 4 followed by an omega symbol to indicate the ohms per coil.
