I had a LONG phone conversation with one of the members of Exile. He is a really good guy and talks really highly of his products (as expected). But he also backs up everything he says with pure knowledge. Him and two guys worked for a major brand company, not saying any names, but when the owner sold his shares and the new owner was making cheaper products with more "flash", they resigned and started a new company, Exile.
They have a lot of faith in their products, with less then 1% return rate. The ystand behind their products, too. If a woofer stops working for ANY reason, the dealer simply tosses it in the garbage and he sends out a new one, no need to send back the old one and delay the customer getting his. They don't use the cheap MOSFET power supplies that most cheap companies use. Check out the section on their site where it shows the internals of the amp, they use very high quality components.
The part I couldn't believe, he trusts his products so much, that he is sending me a pair of XP12D subwoofers, a X1200.1 amp, and a X300.2 amp for FREE to try out. He said keep them and try them out. If I don't like them for any reason send them back, but if I want to keep them I can just pay dealer cost.
The guy knows his stuff, very well educated in mobile electronics. Just the kind of guy I would want designing/building products, honestly. I was very impressed with their business practices, etc.
In short, you are looking at the newest Exile Audio dealer :) .

That sounds VERY cool - it's great when a small company understands that they need to provide superior customer service to overcome the marketing challenges that go hand in hand with having a less recognizable name.Justin from Detroit wrote:I had a LONG phone conversation with one of the members of Exile. And impressive that they recognize that this means they have to impress the customer in other ways - like product integrity.
Curious - they distribute via retail, as opposed to internet sales, correct?
(I assume you have a shop?)

Authorized retailer shops only, no internet sales. Internet sales are what kill dealers. especially small dealers. I can't afford a $10,000 opening order for a HU company, so I have to go through a distribtor. Take for instance the new Hu I just got for my car, the JVc KDLH550 or something. On eBay and online, these things go for LESS then MY COST. Can't make money off that. That is what is nice about companies like Exile. If someone comes in and wants a XP12 subwoofer, I can sell it at the MSRP of $220, and he can't go online and find it for $100 less.

Well, that is a good sign!Justin from Detroit wrote:Phoenix Gold, to be exact.
PG has always had some high-priced product, but not much to fault them on.
I don't have the electronics expertise to judge them based on appearances, but two years ago I had the fortune of wandering with some respectable folk after hours:

If John from Tru would have high praise for Phoenix Gold (his competitor) and their entry level amps, I don't know about you.
