I wonder if you guys could help me. I have no clue what is wrong and it's been driving me crazy! Just bought a new sony deck (CDXF7710) and popped it in with a new xm universal tuner to boot. Took out my old JVC and when I go to turn on the truck it defaults to 75% volume or so. I then proceed to turn the thing down but any time I turn the deck up a notch it slams the volume up a significant amount. Took the deck back (since it was open box) and got a new one that was factory sealed. Same exact problem with the new deck. Another thing, when turning the truck on it will not remember my presets and forgets the time every time the truck shuts off.
I have a 600w kenwood amp going only to a single sub.
I have a 1991 Chevy Silverado S1500 ext. cab
I have the sony CDXF7710
If you have any idea what this is all about, I'd appreciate the input! Thank you very much.

I think you missed a wire. There are two power wires on the head unit, a constant 12+ volt and a switched 12+ volt. You may have gotten these backwards or missed the constant all together. Just go over your wiring.
That should cover the memory problems (hopefully). As for the other part... that's just strange. It could be the result of the wiring also.

I also agree with Bwcad.
. I did your link on the sony. It looks nice but sony's quality isnt what it used to be. I also looked at the other HU's on the best buy site you linked and found a JVC that I think would serve you well. The JVC KDG510.it being a sony deck
