Connecting wires to amp

Post by raw9283 »

Do you guys use connectors/terminals for securing wires to your amp terminals?

I was thinking that it would look much cleaner with spade(? whatever the u-shaped ones are) terminals (rather than just screwing down the bare wire), but then I thought thats just another connection that may go bad.

i always use fork connectors on my amps its just the cleanest way to do it if you ask me and if you crimp them right you dont have to worrk about connection issues. get your self a good pair of crimpers and you will be good to go!

depends on the amps. hifonics have set screws while crunch has plates so it depends on the amp. but i usually dont use connectors unless the custom specifies that they want them.

Amps with set screws are the best, but otherwise use the spade terminals (fork terminals? lol nice one Bill). Screwing down the wire is NEVER the way to go.

I'm with Justin, screwing down the wire just brings more problems, you then have to worry about the wires touching each other, the wires being exposed to everything, and it just doesn't look as clean.

Remember that bad connections are the #1 cause for voltage drops! Shoving a power or ground wire into the amp is a perfect example.
