Will this amp work?

Post by Vindicate »

Hey, I have this amp (460u Model) sitten around

http://www.coustic.com/classic/PDFs/U-SERIES.PDF (6.something mb download, I mentioned the wattage down below if you dun wanna dl this)

was thinking of running with these speakers.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_40.html

The speakers are 40 WRMS and 200W Peak. The amp runs 100Wx2 at 4 Ohms. Is there a risk of me blowing these speakers with this amp? Sorry if this is a stupid question lol. I just dun wanna wreck anything!

man the Amp 460u is an awesome amplifier. I wouldn't worry about blowing those Alpines. Just keep the gains down and you will be fine! I used to have the first version of the AMP460...one of the best Amps pound for pound, dollar for dollar ever put out. Smoker can attest to that one.

Hell I would like to build my son's car up with some old Amp460's, maybe throw in an Amp360 and an amp100a for good measure. I had a buddy who had 10 amp460s in his car, running all kicker with all amps running mono. 10 total speakers, about 4000 watts. Hell he had 4 kicker 10's (gold logo) in a bandpass box in the trunk of his chevy cavallier. Then two Kicker 8's in the rear passenger side panels, a 6.5 in the doors and tweeters in the ac vents. If I remember correctly, they were D20 tweeters. Damn that car rocked..you see for all you young pups, Kicker hadn't made amps yet..so we had to go a different route

hell yea, the old gold logo kickers were awesome.hell at that point in time i dont think kicker made anything other than subs.......i worked at a stereo shop in the late 80's that fazed those out to bring in mtx......but back then everyone was buying up full range prefabs and mtx definitely had the market cornered with their terminator boxes.....remember the hatch boxes with 2 12's 4 mids and a couple of piezo horns?
