i miss the days when cd players simply did that..........played cd's

i dont want anything smarter than i am....guess im setting myself up here huh?

maybe im old school or something but i prefer all my processing, eq, crossover points and the like to be external from the head unit. all i want from an hu is a good strong signal...

find a used Alpine 7905 or 7903.
great head units.. 12FM, 6AM presets, CD, bass and treble slides, fader and balance, volume.
that's about it. maybe a local/dx button and stereo/mono button. nothing else, and the 7905 had burr-brown DACs standard.
Back when a simple alpine CD player was $500-600 and very few people had Alpines... and the Countach was their mascot car.
it's only got two pair of pre-outs, but with external crossovers, that's all you really need.
full pull-out too. hehe

Yeah, and it didn't even have built in crossovers or any of the bells and whistles that the new ones have

Nakamichi CD700 is a good example of that as well. Nice, clean look to it.
