can a HO alternator hurt my car?
ok so i got brakes put on my car and next to it was a shop that rebuilds alternators/generators etc, and i asked the guy to how many amp can he rebuild my alternator to?and he told me whe cant do that because the wiring will burn up, then i told him i was looking from 120-160 amps, and he told me that if i were to do that it would start burining wires in my car because it wasent ment to handle that much power, i need HELP guys somebody please tell me the truth i do not want to destroy my car.

Find another Alternator shop that has a clue.
Some people are just prejudice against people with systems.
Everytime my car breaks down with any electrical piece the shop balmes it on the system. I jsut pay them and let it go...

the alternator will need heavier gauge power line from alt to battery, batt to ground, and batt to amplifiers.
that's a given
the factory wiring for the rest of the car is fine, since the car itself won't draw any more current tahn it did with the stock alternator.
the voltage will be nearly the same. 13.5-14.4VDC.
the current only increases with demand, so only the audio system, via alternator to battery, directly to the amps will increase significantly.
the guy who told you the factory wiring would burn up was wrong.
the only damage that may result is if the factory stock alternator is re-wound to a higher output and it runs to hot. then without proper alternator case ventilation, the windings on the rotors and stators or the diode networks could toast.
That won't happen if it's built right in the first place though.
