please help me decide what i need

Post by kickersqQX4 »

hey, i have 2 12" kicker l7's and they are the dual 4 ohm voice coils and i was wondering what you guys thought would b an appropriate amp. Since they rms at 750w i feel like their would b room for improvement if i went with what kicker reccomends ( sx1250.1 or kx1200.1 ) Ive been looking at ppi dcx1500 and the hifonics bx1500. I was also told that a jl 1000/1 would hit pretty hard but that seems way under potential? Any help would be great. thanks!

RMS ratings are only thermal. Here, check this thread out:

hey ridr4lif, that thread u sent me helped me out a lot and it deffinantly cleared some stuff up for me. I'm guessing thats why the amps they match up with the subs are less than the rms. sounds like a kx1200 will be the amp i get. thanks alot for the help

Hey, it something i never knew until i joined this site. Im glad we could help enlighten another car audio enthusiast and get his mind on the right track.

I personally run a single 10" L7 and have only 420 watts goin to it in a ported box and it hits HARD. So yea, i think the 1200x1 will be plenty. I also think that the kicker amp is rated at 12.6 volts, so it will actually put out more power than stated.

most kx1200.1 amps put out around 1400 watts RMS at full output anyway on a birth sheet so you'll be fine with that amp.

glad that link helped.
