Looking for info on Eclipse subs

Post by phthisis »

I am lookin for some information on Eclipse subwoofers. Particularly the aluminum and titanium series. I'm lookin to know if they are good for sq or spl, how much they cost, or any general information. Their website doesn't give very much info and I would like to get info from the forum I trust.

http://www.woofersetc.com sells the eclipse subs you're talkin about so you could get a price from there. Their prices are fair and i know they're legit b/c ive ordered from them before.

good subs. the AL and Ti are aimed at SQ whereas the Ti Pro is aimed more toward SPL if I recall. nice subs though.

Yep dead on, AL and TI are SQ (SQL really for the TI), and the TI Pro is more of an SPL sub.

Either way they are well made subs, no matter what price range or model you are looking at.

I was also wondering if they work better in a sealed or ported box?

For the TI pro I would go ported, the AL and TI, will work well either way. Honestly I would go with a 12 TI in a sealed box, and call it a day. But thats just my opinion, and I have always been a fan of sealed boxes. If you want a little more bump, go with a 12 TI in a ported box, and you should be good.

The suspension designs of the subs lead themselves to work better ported. Low Qts, strong motor, looser suspension, long voice coil with parabolic BL curve. Small sealed works well too, but they really open up in a ported box.
