kick panel help

ok i need help someone please.i made a set and the driver side sounded ok their was a little imaging in the center then you swop seats and set in the passenger side and all you can hear is the kick in the floor sounds coming right up at you.

so i am on my second set of kicks,i have the baffles made and the back fiberglass piece and I'm trying to aim them anywhere to get imaging in the center of the dash.im trying to aim them at the windows 5 inches forward and 1.5 down but when i sit in the pass/side,same thing all you hear is the kick on the pass/side playing in your face.

i have boston acoustics pro series 6.5 and the car we all know what it is and it does have a center console but i don't know why the driver side will work.so should i try,out of phase on which side? also what setting should the crossover be set to i can't remember what it says i think ambient and natural.

this is driving me nuts and i just want to finnish them and get on with life haha.
oh and the DTA adjustments adjust to the left so thats no help.

i wrote him but i don't think i was clear on my problems.so today i am going to try and wire the mids out of phase,don't really know which one though since the drivers side sounds good,and the pass/side is the problem side but when dealing with kicks your tricking your brain with sound by aiming them to each side and bouncing off there windows on each side.this is a science project,i swear man damn.some cars it can be so easy then others huh.work work work.

i read on team audio nuts that they have actually added a vent to the back of there kick panels,now its got me wondering since it will be a sealed little enclosure,if i were to add a small piece of oh i don't know,maybe 3/4 inch pvc pipe about 2 inches long to act as a flared port.hmmm anybody???? lol what do y'all think ? it would be towards the back,not visual.doesnt work,plug her up good two times. ah haha as for building this set.its a huge job again,because of my car,its a manual and has a center console and not much room at all for kicks.

hmm, I have never heard of adding a port to kick panels.
I haven't built mine yet so haven't really researched it yet.

yea you can find some threads by google chris,i got the idea from team audio nuts,they mentioned a vent on the back and some people say to cut holes in the back so the back waves will hit the carpet on the floor.anyways i think i figured out why I'm not getting any good imaging sitting in the pass/side.its because of path length obstructions,like the center console,my steering wheel,my stick shifter,the E brake and who knows,yep,it just dawned on me.thats why the driver side sounds ok,but not the other.which really sucks because passengers will never get to hear what I'm hearing.so no SQ competitions unless DTA adjustments come through for me.

im also wondering about hooking my electronic crossover up on my highs amp.which I've never ever done,just always used it for my lows.i wonder if it will make a difference in SQ.I saw a guy that had three audio controls and each one had like 20 knobs to adjust.i bet he could do a lot with all those.i think they were like audio control EQLX or something.hell I've never even owned a real equalizer before,just crossovers.

update on kicks.i fleeced and fiberglassed my new set today,going to hopefully finnish tomorrow
bond,wrap the back in sound deadener,then wrap the front in carpet,maybe stuff with poly,there small then rest I'm beat.

they are in,and i am beat. damn man,i did some bond,then sanded,then wrapped with carpet,looks terrible,then put deadener on the backs,screwed them to the car,put poly inside and all i have to do is put the grills on tomorrow its 11 at night i got done around 10,30 didn't even get to do a sound check yet.but i will hehe and a sub update,those are the best subs I've ever owned they sound good.there in a ported box,with one 6 inch aero port,and they really hit the lows really well.

a couple hundred people on youtube must be onto something when they all have sa 12's for sure.not sure how they perform in a sealed box but i have one of those too,maybe i will try it out one day,but not anytime soon I'm digging the bass.

hey Chris,i was messing around with my kick panels and took out the tweeters trying to move them around for better imaging and i decided to try something,i cranked them up with the tweeters out of the 2 inch holes i have cut in my kicks and the mid bass was like night and day difference,so i couldn't find a good place for the tweeters and put them back but only after i cut a 2 inch hole in the backs of my kick panels,as a port and it sounds a lot deeper and i could even turn up the gain ALOT,so yes kick panels can be ported.lol,,

now about those dayton 4 inch mid bass speakers,hmmm haha

well I'm redoing my kick panels.the imaging was decent sitting in the drivers seat,but not so good in the pass/side,so i am doing some work to them,its hard to describe how my car floor boards are,theirs a edge then it drops down where the floor mats are,so I'm building on a small ledge basically.

I've been doing a ton of reading about mid bass,I've never ever had it,so i am going to get them.i am looking for something decent that won't break the bank.
theirs a lot that plays into the set up here.i have 6.5 mid range speakers,so I've read that you don't want to get a smaller mid bass,so I'm thinking at least a 6 inch or 6.5 and i need a brand that will play in IB. in my doors.

i read some test that were done on some but it was years ago and the speakers that did the best were

tangband w8-740c but its huge and these were all 8 inch mid bass speakers,but theirs so many to choose from like all the mainstream brands,pyle,and stuff then dayton speakers are awesome.

if anyone knows of a decent 5 inch to 6.5 inch let me know.thanks

I'm in the same boat as you, I'll be starting my kicks either this spring or next.
Not quite sure what to get yet either.

@JeremyC I believe recommended peerless once to me for subs. But I think I've heard good things about all 3 you listed. The 8 might be a little much though.
