when choosing a new tire,haha i mean sub woofer for your car,what to look for?
in my case,i like a 12 inch sub that will be going in a sealed enclosure,or doesn't really matter i guess
but what specs or parameters do you want to review and compare.with so many subs out their,for me i don't listen to rap,i listen to electronica mostly and i like my subs to hit real punchy.
i have jl 12w3's 4 ohm's which of these lets me know what i want and what to compare to others.

Well for the Camaro, one thing that was important for that install was the basket depth.
The well in that car, is T shaped. So there a good chance of the basket hitting and not being able to mount it.
So many new subs are going for these massive basket sizes, so it took awhile to find one that would actually work.

hey chris,I've been meaning to tell you bro my first car was a 1984 red camaro yep.but it was just a camaro,it had a stupid 305 in it,no body kit or whatever they called them back then haha i forgot.but i had two boxes in it,i had a box with two 12 inch M&M's in it that fit down in the back drop down and was the width of the back then i had a second box that was a wedge shaped box LIKE I HAVE NOW that goes under the glass firing up,i should have just ran the one wedge shaped box,it also had clear polyurethane M&M subs in it,so i had 4 subs in 1988,in a 84 red camaro.
my friend across the street for graduation they bought him a brand new 1984 black z28 camaro and we were the sh!t cruising in that,he was 18 i was 14 in 84.he first had a 1976 monte carlo we cruised in jamming 6x9's super loud to rock,van halen and motley Crue good times,i think i can't remember hehe,lots of smoke.
what i was wondering if i compared subs specs would i look at what hz they played to find a set that hits lower and i guess that would be the answer to my question,y'all have to forgive me sometimes i post something late at night after I've taken my sleeping meds and i try to stay off the computer once I've taken them,but different state a mind brings weird ideas i guess.

Don't know the answer to your sub questions, hopefully someone else can chime in on that.
well guys i think I'm going to get some new subs this week,i am going to go with sundown SA 12'S dvc 4 ohm's
to replace my 12w3's.the 12w3's sound great in my sealed enclosure but i find myself reaching for the bass knob to turn it up more haha.i was going to go with 3 of them,but i figured i would try something new.i watch a lot of video's on youtube and i typed in ( SA 12'S ) thats it and their are 27 almost 28 pages of video's now if i would have written sundown subs their would probably be 30 or 40 pages.i have a DC audio 2.0k amp that actually puts out 2480 watts on a test video i saw so i will use it.
I'm going to see what they sound like sealed first for grins maybe a comparison test,but i have three boxes in my garage so I'm going to make it ported with a 6 inch aero port.whenever i build a box and it doesn't work out i take the top off and the internals out then all i have to do is make the top or front piece where the subs go,i have two of these in my garage so I'm set.and there huge they were for 15's so i cut them down to size.easy peasy.

went got some mdf then went by my friends shop where i had my DC AUDIO 2000 for sale but nobody bought it so i will use it.oh and i bought five sheets of sound deadener for my doors.
I have my door panels off and i covered up the wholes in the metal door and their is about 3.5 to 4 inches from where my 6.5 mid mounts in the metal part of the door and where the plastic door panel is.I am missing my kick panels so much man damn.I love imaging,i tried to see if i could mount them at an angle to try for on axis,but it would be a severe angle to achieve this.
so i guess I'm stuck for now with my miss in the doors,but i am going to cut a 3/4 inch spacer to at least get it closer to the grill in the panel.hell i might bring it all the way forward,i really don't know what would be best,i do worry about my speakers getting wet in the doors.

i swear,i hate mac's i can't download software off the web,like for instance box calculators to design a box,i can't download it says that dos mode garbage because what I'm trying to download is windows stuff.

ok I'm talking to myself here,haha so with the box i have in my car i have three boxes to choose from.I am weird in my ways but i am a firm believer in wedge shaped boxes over rectangle and i have a huge wedge shaped box in my car already,I'm thinking about taking the divider out,and using it,i have a bunch of pvc elbows that are 6 inches to go along with the 6 inch aero ports,I need to talk with someone and see how long of a port it needs to be.

UPDATE!!!!!! sundown audio SA 12'S DVC 4 OHM'S ((( best subs ever ))) I've had a lot and heard a lot in my 20 plus years and the sa 12's are bad a$$ and the price you can't beat that either.i paid 399.98 for the two subs and got them in 3 days free shipping.
i put them in a nice size box,its over 4 cubes I'm not sure how much displacement the 6 inch aero port takes up but i installed it today,and there not even broke in yet,just sat in the car for about 10 minutes to adjust my h/u settings and then went to the store and back and woo there wicked deep,low,loud very low haha and there only going to get better breaking in,and plus i need to do more adjusting during the day.
