New "Old School" set up, I am excited!

A guy I work with in the electrical field told me he was clearing out the garage, and that he found his old car audio system. I was intrigued, so I inquired. He has two old school Orion Extreme (XTR) Series 2 15" subs and an Orion SX2150 amp.

I was really hoping he was going to say he had the old school 2500d, but hey, can't get THAT lucky. :)
I am pretty stoked about this. I already have the ported box "virtually" created through WinISD. Fearing that WinISD used the "new" line of XTR subs, I found the manual online for the old school ones and entered all the parameters myself and saved it into the database.

He assured me the SX2150 had provided plenty of power back then, but to me it's still questionable, I guess we'll see won't we? He also has two brand new JL Audio old school (don't know if they're W1, W3, etc yet...) 10" subs in they're original packaging, and a Kenwood 4 channel amp (unknown model at this point) that he used for his mids/highs.
I am buying everything for $150. Mid life crisis? Maybe. I don't care, I want to re-live my 90's teenage years one more time even if it means only through a car audio system! :)

I do have one question though, and I am hoping someone here can think of it. Back in the mid to late 90's, I had bought (for cheap even back then) two 10's and two 12's and I honestly do not remember what brand they were. I was "told" they were Orions but judging by the "character" who sold them to me (he WAS a friend of mine back then but he was quite the storyteller), I doubted this even back then. All I recall about the subs is that they had the "ripple" effect (that is, convex ((raised)) concentric circles outer to inner or vice versa) around the cone, the cone was a laminated paper with foam surrounds, and the one defining feature (which is what I hope sparks a memory from someone here) was that the dust cap had an "O" on it. The outer edge of the "O" was white and the middle was filled in with a "little more than deeper" sky blue.
I know this question has no bearing as to what I am buying (tomorrow) but I was thinking about all the stuff I threw into my Hyundai Excel hatchback back in the 90's and I remember those. They sounded great SQ wise, but they couldn't handle too much power, 250-300 wrms each if I recall correctly. I tried some Google searches but came up empty. I am really hoping someone here recalls such subs (even if they were complete crap) and can shed some light as to what they could have been or were.

In the meantime, I cannot wait to get started on building a box for the Orion subs. I am hoping that the SX2150 is truly underrated as I have seen other old school Orion amps are. The subs are rated 500 wrms each, the amp is rated 2 x 300 wrms @ 2 ohm, and since I am guessing the subs are the single voice coil, I am going to wire them to 2 ohm (single 4 each). I have seen the subs, they are MINT, but they are in a sealed box, so I have not seen the back side and he doesn't recall the voice coil config. If I find it's not enough power I can always pick up a Hifonics 1200 cheap enough I suppose and use the SX2150 in 4 ohm for the mids/highs.
Again, I will have to wait and see at this point.

It's been a long time since I have been in the game, honestly, and in the 2000's I was barely able to afford the stuff I dreamed about building. The hiatus I took from car audio from 2007 hither to now was to earn an education / work hours / license in the electrical trade (commercial/industrial) to have a gig that would help support my "habits". :) Mission accomplished, despite kind of working backwards from the 90's. :)

cool deal,i still have my autoteck amps from back in the early 90's and thought about installing them in my truck.i have a autoteck 44 and a 100 i think they are grey and called bass boosters they would push a set of 15's back in the day pretty good,there the old ones too,instead of terminals to connect wires they actually have wires coming out of the amps haha its small like 8 or 10 gauge plus i have my electronic crossover and same thing has wires coming out of it,plus i have some original power wires from the 80's its 8 gauge with a little glass fuse haha.yep a lot has changed.
