Now to the point of my post. When the guy got in he asked where we wanted the mic to read from, being the first comp we said near our heads, the score was crap, the guy decided to stick it up under the dash behind the head unit, thats where the final score was from. I was wondering where the best place to test was since we got to pick. I'll post up some pics tommarow, im just to damn tired to tonight. Just thought i would share what someone from CAC was doing. There's another one July 15th(also my b-day) if there is anyone from southern IL. or MO that would like to enter. PM mefor more info if your interested.

stereo competition
Hey whats up. Thought i would post up a few scores for a competition that was held locally. The event name was " stereo one after dark" and there a were a few impressive cars there. Some of the cars that were there included: An S-10 with airbags, and a stereo consisting of one 15" eclipse titanium pro, score=150.7. A 1995 beretta z26 all stock with a 12" RE and a 8" RE, score=139.3(owned by jason a.k.a sirius black). a 2005 mustang gt with engine mods and two MA audio tens, score=142 flat. There were more cars that were nice, but i dont remember them all. The mic was a Audio control mic, i wasent really impressed with it but it did the job. The owner of the shop had a neon that was a USACI world champ in 2002, name was Greg Vaughn if you want to look it up.

Well according to the MECA judge that lives in the town a few minutes away- the loudest point SPL wise in the car is on the floorboard. About 6" off it and 2" back from the nearest vertical or angled area at that level.
Some of the super serious competitos had a little "Square" in this area for the judge to put the mic to... THats because they have tested all over and it WAS the loudest area...

I wasent sure where it would be loudest, and being the first time we wasted all our time trying to find it. Theres another comp in July so were gonna see how we do then. Yes they used to be a big competitor, the stereo one "pressure Team" has taken home some nice trophys from db drag, usaci, and meca. They are mentioned on "stinger's" website also. http://stingerelectronics.com/features/ ... cle_nf.asp
Although his little neon looked nice, i really wasent all that impressed with how it sounded. He ran the first run to show off a little and even though it was doing a 145 i really wasent impressed with it. The s/q was not that good, and he was extremly cocky. Over all he had almost 10 cars that were louder than his. Still not a bad little setup in a daily driver though, and he ran nice stuff including eclipse, audio control, stinger, alpine, and kenwood. His car got soaked last night, it was setting outside with the hood, and trunk open and he was inside micing other cars and it poared in his trunk, someone noticied it though, so maybe he didnt ruin anything.

TSO is no joke... they took home *alot* of trophies at meca finals.
Some rule bending and questionable activity was involved in SOME instances.
Note, they are no longer a MECA team and the head guy @ TSO was banned for a year for making certain comments among other things.
GLad to see they are still at it, though.

Some SPL nut cocky? NO WAY!!!
We had an experience at the Fremont show with a cocky big mouthed SPL person. Im not naming names but hes rather "big"
The opened the hood on Justins SC2 to have a look for a second Alt when he was at the lane.
This big mouth dickwad said "Somebody should show him what a wire tie is" And his little cornies giggled with him a bit. Kevin (Mercedesbends) and Myself just gave him a dirty look...
Anyhow when the arogant douchebag made his way into the lane he opened the hatch on his early mid 90's red daytona (oh it was a real nice car!)...
WHAT A UGLY BOX!!! He had amps mounted directly to the box. His wires were organized, I will give him that.
SO I said rather LOUD "Somebody should show this guy what box carpet is- that looks like SHIT".
His cronies looked over at the three of us, I smiled
ASSHOLE!

it takes a system with really big balls to be loud on the headrest...
most installs do very low numbers there.. and they wonder why mine is so loud there..
and yes generally, the kickpanel is the loudest location in the vehicle..
but it just depends on what you're aiming for.... I used to have an install that turned the same number on the dash, headrest, and both kickpanels..
goodness what I would give to meter on an old Audiocontrol now.... lol
big big BIG numbas..
btw Mark, the old Team Stereo One is from Tennessee..... I'm thinking this is a different stereo one..
