Budget 6.5 inch component sets?

Post by jstaguy24 »

I am looking for a budget set of 6.5 inch component speakers. Right now I have a set of pioneer 6.5 coax speakers. I need better for around 100.00 or less. I am going to eventually get memphis m class components to go with my m class sub but need cheaper for now. Any suggestions on what you are using that you have been happy with?

I've read that these CTX for $160 are outstanding. I've read some reviews and people seemed blown away. Can't beat a price like that for good sound.

Here is a discussion - says tweeters seem more detailed than Infinity -

Do you have an amp on the coax's? If not, do you have an amp you can install when you do swap to components? Why not wait and save up the money for the components you want now?

Might take a look at Polk Audio db651s. Over the years, I've had boston acoustics (now leaving the car audio market), infinity (not the OEM variety), diamond audio (pricey) and enjoyed them in that increasing order. I have however, polk audio speakers in my home and LOVE them for clarity, quality, and accurate reproduction (my tests are female vocals, and piano, both difficult to "get right"). Worth a look and in your price range. Note that the set mentioned has a 92+db sensitivity, which translates to "almost double" the volume for the same power input. (a 3dB increase is double; 10dB is 10x). Thus, with amps pushed less hard, you often get a better quality of sound. good luck!!!
