just connect your 12+ output to pin 86. Ground pin 85. Ground pin 30. And run a wire from pin 87 to the wire you want to send ground to.

OK, using relays I got both the dome light, and the remote hatch to work.

but

In each case, the relay makes a high pitch noise as long as the trigger input is doing it's thing.

What would cause that?

What kind of relays are you using? They should only click when the solenoid engages.

bosch ones I think, I'll have to go back out and see.

I think it's being caused by the wire that comes from the alarm, because they were not doing that when I was testing the relays using my own trigger.

weird. I don't know what to say about that other than i hope you figure it out ... or at the very least, it's not a big deal, everything works ok and/or it just goes away or something. lol

OK
Now I'm trying to get the ignition kill relay hooked up, and not sure what wires to hook it to in the car.
I need to cut the wire that goes from the Key to the Starter.. PurpleRS do you happen to know what wire that might be? I'm looking at the wiring diagram for the car, and not quite sure. According to the diagram there is a Yellow wire and a Pink Wire. I think the Yellow is the one activated when the key is turned to start. Are you supposed to get 12v+ on this wire, because the one I found on the steering colum does not when you go and start the car. Here is the harness I'm looking at, it's the one that comes out of the steering column.
The attachment harness.JPG is no longer available
Also I need to tap into a wire that is live during cranking. Do you know what wire to tap into? I guess it's only 12v when the engine is turning over?

Mine was installed for me, but my best guess would be the purple wire that comes from the gear selector switch. This is the wire that goes to the solenoid on the starter. I'm assuming you're using all the body wiring for 1984, so no starter enable relay or pass-key decoder. This link has starter and ignition wiring, but not their locations, I forget which motor you started with, so I went with the 5.0 schematics, should be close to the same.

Actually everything in mine now is 92 5.7,
I do recall their being a purple wire on the gear selector, so I'll look at that.

Thanks

Start checking with the multimeter. 12 volts durning cranking but at no other time is a starter wire. Cut it and see if it keeps the car from starting. If it does, use that wire for starter kill.

constant 12 volts will obviously be 12 volts all the time.

Ignition wires will be 12 volts with the key on and while cranking.

Accessory wires will lose 12 volts while cranking but rest at 12 with the key on.
