Low bass coming from subs constantly.

Post by cterie »

I have a 2000 mustang gt without the mach system and I hooked up a dvd player, 2 subs and an amp. I had this hooked up for a couple years but I just rewired everything with better cables. Anyways as soon as I turn the car on even with the music off or down there is a constant low bass coming from the subs. I already tried 2 different remote wires, 3 different rca's and 2 amps, so I don't think it is any of those. I also grouned and regrounded multiple times. I'd appreciate any ideas that I havent thought of already.

see if it still happens with the car off, rca's in/ car off, rca's out, that should help to pinpoint the problem.

Car on rca in = constant base hum
Car on rca out = nothing

Car off rca in = nothing
Car off rca out = nothing

I also noticed that there is a very slight bump in the base whenever I turn my cars fan speed up or down. This is when the car is on or off with the rca's in. So what does this tell you?

Do you think that I might need a ground loop isolator http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Fierce+Audi ... &st=ground

Ground Loop for sure. An isolater will cut out some of your base response your better of finding the actual cause of the problem. Are you using the factory radio?

Should have known it was a pioneer. Welp your pretty much F'd. Pioneer went to shit and had about 450 billion radios with that exact issue. Replace the radio with a kenwood/jvc and chalk it up to pioneer turning to shit. Ive replaced about 30 pioneer headunits for that exact problem. You can test it buy grounding the radio case/RCA's to the frame of the car.

Are you saying to ground the dvd player to the car or the metal cage it slides into? Also what should happen when I do this?

The dvdplayer and the cage are touching right? so it doesnt matter. You should hear a noticeable change in the sound.
