i think im done with this stuff. i dont post much. the car audio realm has become too much crap. and the stuff that is incredible is overpriced. opinions are like bungholes only more abundant. it used to be fun. bandwagons come by every few weeks or months. loyalty is gone. both ways that is. consumers feel no loyalty to companies with inferior products. theres always something better. i blame the internet. the internet has created experts out of the ordinary guy. in the chase for the almighty dollar distributors have popped up and some of them dont have scruples enough to not do business with anyone that can dial the 800 number so small shops where quality work and products can be found suffer because some moron is doing it cheaper and swearing his product is as good as (insert popular brand here, actually dont insert popular brand here because its unpopular to like quality products if they are popular). im not in the business anymore and glad of it. i help a few people here and there who want to get the most out of their install. i think im tired also of "well another dude on another forum has a friend who did that and it 1)kicked ass 2) sucked ass 3)could have kicked ass but sucked ass instead

maybe im getting too old for the internet, maybe ive changed, maybe everyone else has changed, both probably.....i just dont even bother to post when a 16 year old kid posts and talks about the 15 systems hes built. no one build systems anymore.....they are thrown into your car usually based off of what someone wants in there not what will actually work well in there.

havent seen cargodz in a while. maybe ill call him. he probably came to the same realization as i did....the real world is where it happens, the internet is for naked pics of jennifer anniston if you can find them, and, for stalking your ex........

I know exactly where you are coming from there. to make a dollar in this business it cost your 300. Ive been out of the loop for a while now, still like tinkering here and there, mainly home audio now though.

I know how you feel Terry, I lost the love some time ago.

It was a strange moment when I realized I no longer enjoy this stuff like I used to.

Its fueled partly by the attitudes of others, not having the time/desire to keep up on the latest/greatest and finally the push by everyone to do more for next to nothing.

I agree all the crap talking is enough to turn anyone off.

Not to mention my own lack of system in my own vehicle. I kinda think about tossing a single 12 in my car- but at the end of the week theres no money there for such things.

Such is growing up.

Im not sure if Mike is still alive. He completely went ghost on everyone.

I guess I'm lucky in that all the problems I've had to face over the years pull me away from it all enough to have been able to brush off most of the crap. Although I still don't post like i used to. I do miss the old days.

When I've talked about my business plans to people they always ask how do I plan to expand my business, blah, blah, blah ... I don't want to. I never have. I do what's fun for me. And if I ever lose that, I'll quit. So, I stay small, pick and choose as much as I can what I'll do, etc. I know I won't get rich, as long as I can make enough to keep a roof over my head, I'll be good.

This is a downer thread. We should start this over on a happier note somehow. lol.

Is there anything within our control that we could do to bring some enjoyment back into it all for you guys?

We could start a private underground movement called the dirt cheap, back to basics club. lol. Make our own rules, do things our way and just have fun with it? I don't know. It just sucks hearing you guys being so down about it ... I don't want to end up like you! ;)

Right now, I just don't have anything to put equipment in so I've been sort of out of it too.

But if I ever get the Camaro drivable again, I have big plans on the audio system. Going to do the system I've always wanted to have. I'm actually looking forward to finally getting this car back on the road again.

I just have a lot of time and money ahead of me, before even getting to the audio though. :(

I sold my system to my cousin, all I have left is the deck.

I switch cars so often that it just doesn't seem worth it.

But I'm saving up for a really nice, low mileage 97-01 Dakota, extended cab, 3.9, 5 speed, 2wd. I'm going to keep that as my daily driver, so it's getting a nice little system in it.

Then I'm keeping the mustang as my project cars.

I've realized that buying/selling cars is fun, but you should have a nice daily driver and project car that you keep... forever!

Mach my words, by the end of the year I'll have the Dakota and STILL have the mustang... I'm taking bets!

I've had my Jeep since it had 125 miles on it. I'm a little over 70k now. I stripped the system out of it a while back when I thought I was going to sell it. Luckily that never happened. But I can see putting a system back in it. A nice deck and some cheap speakers is all.

My new car is another story. I love this car. it's getting a full makeover and I do plan to keep this car for as long as I can possibly stand it. It will have a system. Hopefullly sooner than later.
