Ive only been in one eclipse with a 15" SS sub and it was back in the day (DSM model). It sounded good.

http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2198737 ... 6036Qtuzif

Thats the new prize.

$1,200

Needs new top, tires and center console lid recovered. Its in Charolette NC...

Road trip anyone?

No, seriously considering it. But trying to figure out best/cheapest way to get it and get back. Im honestly thinking of taking a greyhound down there and just driving it back. Trouble is greyhound is a 17 hr bus ride... A straight drive in a car is 10 hrs... A flight down there is $235 also...

Update- found out this guy is second owner. Cars got 150K on it, 98K of its from this person.

Found it on CL also.

Im going to offer him on it as soon as I hear back on the tire issue.

Go get it in two weeks then if we strike a deal.

Most people won't hold a car for 2 weeks for somebody out of state without a hefty non-returnable deposit.

I wouldn't want to put a deposit on something I haven't seen/heard run.

It's hard to do these types of deals!

Well this is an older guy. Hes got a kid in college, so hes probably not pressed.

I would put $100 down on it by pay pal if needed.

Guy on the Alero board lives right there and said he would go check it out for me.

Its not perfect like the white one I was looking at, I know this going into it.

Heres what I know.

Guy bought it with about 50K on it, put 100K on it- so 150K total.

Needs 2 tires while Im down there.
Needs a new top, it does leak.
Leaks some oil, but not bad
Burns some oil, but not bad
the glox box and the armrest/console lids need replaced
A/C leaks- but who needs a/c with a convertible? lol

Ive already priced tires out, getting two tires on the rims will cost me $175. New top will run me $170-$300 depending on who I buy it from.

The glove box and armrest are junkyard deals, so that less than $20 I bet and no biggie.

The oild leak probably isnt an issue, just a gasket. Can fix myself.

The oil burn is kinda scary, but my Z34 burned oil also (same motor). I just checked and leveled it weekly with no issues.

Im going to offer him $1,000 on it providing nothing majoly negative comes from our phone conversation tomorrow.

Doesn't mean much. I know plenty of people that are older and horrible with money. Kid could be going to school on student loans!

Sounds good.

That worked out well, providing he knows what he's doing.

I sold a part to a member on the local mustang forum who lived 70 miles away, the guy buying the part was talking to another member who was a truck driver and he offered to pick up the part from me and deliver it to the buyer for free. It worked out well, none of us have ever met each prior to the deal but true car guys tend to pull together.

Yeah, but if you don't mind doing a little tlc yourself you can really save some cash! I still hate the 3.4 dohc though. :words

Front tires? Front end out of alignment?

The new tops can be a challenge to get done right, at least so I hear. Might be better off having a pro do it???

Probably wouldn't be bad unless it was the pan or the rear main.

I think all those 3.4 burn oil.

Interior pieces probably won't be bad to find. I wouldn't worry about that.

When it's 90 degree's outside with 100% humidity and it's raining outside you might re-think that!

What's his original asking price?

Well he had it posted on the w-body forum for $1,500. He has a CL ad for $1,400

He offered it to me for $1,200 in my WTB thread on the forum.

With the costs involved to drive that far and the total dollars I would have into this, it really has to be at $1,000 for me to work it. I might be able to do $1,100 but thats top dollar.

I just got an email back and ran a "autocheck" for $25

Its clean and clear. The car was from Florida. He evidently got it at 38K miles.

So its clean car... No rust :)

Yeah, if he said 1,200 you should be able to get it for 900 or so.

Offer him 900 first if you haven't offered a 1,000 already. I'd be willing to bet you could get it for $900 if you're a good wheeler and dealer!

hahahaha Im not really.

Honestly the price seems to be fair. Given rough shape the car KBB is $2K... Which this car is in rough shape due to the costly issues...

Never hurt's to ask.

The car is only worth what somebody is willing to pay.

That ad has been up for a month, so he's been trying to sell it for at least that long.
