one for tha car guyz

Post by Tim »

Friend of mine at work told me today that when his car was losing power and hesitating, that he put a quart of trans fluid in the tank, and then filled with gas and ran it all out, and then refilled his tank. He said the hesitation was gone and his power was restored.

Im not saying I dont believe him, in any way. I just never heard of it and I would tend to think it would mess stuff up.

What do you guys think??

If you got hesitation first try the PB Blaster branded fuel system cleaner. One bottle will treat two tanks and it LOOKS like trans fluid. That stuff works well.

After that purchase a can of "GM Top End Cleaner" and follow the directions.

Dont mess with Seafoam. Its an over priced and watered down version of the GM stuff.

I've had good luck with sea-foam. I let it suck up through the vaccum line and run a bottle through the tank.

I do this the day before I plan on doing a tune up and oil change. Theres always a chance it could foul the plugs (which is why I plan on changing them anyways)or ruin an o2 sensor, but so far so good though.

People seem to think a can of fuel additive will fix anything, when most of the time they have 3 trillion miles on there plugs/wires. You know what really keeps a vehicle running good? Preventive maintaince, sounds crazy I now.

Not as good as GM Top End Cleaner.

Seafoam does work decently. However its not NEAR as potent as the GM stuff. Ive used both. They both work the same, used the same and work to do the same thing. YOu can just tell the GM stuff does a better job.

Seafoam now is like $8-9 at Advance Auto- used to be $6.

GM stuff is $10 at a GM dealer.

Never used GM's stuff.

Yeah, I noticed that the sea foam went up a few bucks, just like everything else I guess. :sad017:

On a side note, gas prices are nice right now!
