My amp is capable of a 2 ohm load and so it the sub. what is the best way to wire it to get some good power without frying my amp. the booklet shows configurations for a 2 ohm load on the sub and a 4 ohm load on the amp. Or a 4ohm to 4 ohm load. or i dont know if it is an option or not but a 2 ohm to 2 ohm load.
also any information of ohms and what they are would be appreciated haha all i know is that my amp makes more rms at 2 ohms compared to 4 ohms

You got some more info on the sub and amp?? first off dont worry about "peak" or "max" rating, they are useless, merely a ploy to make people think they are getting more than they are.

How much power will the amp put out at 4 ohms??
Cause most subs (well built ones anyway) can sound good on about a third of the rms power. So if sub x has a rms of 400 watts you could give it 120 watts and it still sound pretty decent.

Your lower ohm loads will tend to be harder on the amp, the lower the load the more power you get, but it is harder on the amp.

Look at your specs and see what you come up with. And by all means look at the link posted above.

That's really gunna depend on the sub. There are a lot of sub's that just aren't all that efficient and need the power. If you're going to throw a third of the power on most any sub, you'd better make sure you make up for it in box design.

For instance in my brothers camry, he's got an 18" FI BL fully loaded. With 1200 watts the sub hardly even moves even in a pretty efficent enclosure. Granted it has the extra stiff spiders. Just saying it really depends on your situation with how much power your going to need.

It is gonna depend on the sub, I agree with that. But the most any sub is what I have a problem with. An 18" FI BL fully loaded is not just any sub. That is a masterpiece, at least in my mind. I have found that I can enjoy a subs performance on a little clean power, better than I can running it at or near its full rms.

And it will depend on the situation how much power you need.

Sure you can enjoy it without throwing it it's full power, but to get it's full potential you're going to need to throw some power at it for the most part.

I'm pretty sure they don't give seperate power ratings for the fully loaded and the regular BL, so i wanna say its 1000 rms. But with 1.2k on it now, it laughs at it. It does a 140 and you can literally hardly even tell its playing lol. My bro's got an American Bass VFL series amp which he plans to switch too which should be feeding it around 2400-2600 wrms, so it should really come to life then.

Man... I cant imagine having something that handles that kind of power.

LOL

hah, yea he got a great deal on it, but had no idea it was gunna need that kind of power. It's in a toyota camry and the enclosure is sealed off from the trunk tuned to 30 or 31 hz, so it gets real low and sounds pretty damn good. He just needs the extra power for it to really shine and also it should help it out in the higher frequencies of the spectrum. Plays chopped and screwed stuff really well right now though. I'm sure we'll get some pics of his setup once it's all completed and cleaned up. Right now you can see the expanded foam and stuff until he gets the beauty panel on, so it's not too pretty to look at.
