Opinions on this Laptop?

Post by NorthQuad »

I've been searching for a laptop of some sort for a while now. I was going to go with an inexpensive netbook but after comparing all the products out there, I've decided to go with something that's more of a desktop replacement rather than an ultra portable. This thing will rarely leave the house so...

I wanted to spend around $750 but it seems the laptops with the options I'd like in them are more like $1000. And $1000 is the absolute maximum that I'm going to spend.

So, I'm hoping to get your opinions on my choice of a laptop. If it's a good or bad choice or if it has a component in it that's known to be faulty. Or if there's a much better option to this one for this kind of money. This is in Canadian money by the way.

Thanks!

Hmmm... some of the Toshiba's arent bad machines and to be honest HP has come a long way since they first merged with compaq...

One thing I will say... The ultimate in Desktop replacement is a Sony Vaio AW series laptop... huge but more than you're willing to spend.

Toshiba doesnt make a lot of larger desktop replacement Laptops.

HP does but again most of the desktop replacements are over $1k I think you should just go with something that is a mid-range and sacrifice a little.

Yeah, my regular desktop isn't a really good one. It's a lower line hp I'd have to say. This laptop that I'm looking at has my desktop beat in every department. I bought the desktop a couple of years ago I think. When my Dell gave out.

I think I'm just going to go for this hp.

Oh, and it comes with a remote too! That's just cool.

you should try looking for a compaq with similar features theyre usually a little cheaper ive noticed
i have the compaq 572us which is almost identical to my buddies hp dv-something i cant remember. mine was 200 less though that was the only difference other than the case same motherboard same processor same ram different screens same size his was more glossy and he might of had a bigger hard drive but basically it was the same machine same drivers everything

Hey Cole. Yeah, I had a look at the Compaqs and this model of the hp dv6 line has better features then the Compaqs I've looked at online.

Hopefully I can find this one on sale somewhere.
