to me, gaming laptop is kind of an oxy moron.

you need an external keyboard, mouse, screen to use it for gaming anyway, why not just get a desktop and put all the things in it you want. AND have the upgrade flexibilty of switching out video cards, and adding ram down the road.

Yea if I was you... I would get one of these 3 options:

1.) Macbook: Great although expensive and you will love it once you get used to the OS
2.) Sony Vaio: New egg sometimes runs good deals on these: I got mine (2300) for only $1,500 so yea
3.) Toshiba: Not bad pretty utilitarian as far as things go but to be honest they don't fail as much as HP and Dell does.

My friend bought a custom gaming laptop. Yes he did, top of the line at the time.

Cost a cool $5,000 no shit!

In end it lasted 2 years... Went through 2 Mother Boards in total. After the second one went he sold it off for $100 but only got $50 from the dude...

Gaming laptops = fail.

Just build a good desk top with at least a 22" monitor and you will be good, and way way way WAY less than $5,000

my compaq 572us was good for casual gaming nvidia 6150 graphics 2 gigs of ram
you can get them pretty cheap if you look i dont know how well it would work on newer games as i tend to play games from 3 years ago that way i spend less

theres alienware too i had a 2nd hand desktop that was pretty awesome 2 athlon mp 2800+ nvidia 6800 graphics

id go with a desktop for gaming
then an acer one for browsing word processing etc. im on one now

I agree though real gaming computers are desktops... you never see a real "gamer" with a laptop unless he is just getting by...

My best suggestion is to never ever get anythign game oriented "only because they run most of the harware at max everything... and guess what... when you over clock a processor for too long and sometimes try to squeeze out that extra oomph this happens...

That was obviously a battery that blew up on that one. Not too sure how that has anything to do with OCing your CPU.
