Last night when I was working on this alone I was tired and very hungry.
Today when I went back over and started pulling some bolts off the old engine I noticed the whole thing was modular! So 3 bolts and it popped right off. To the one off the motor in the car and put the old one on- done.
I got it all pretty much buttoned up right now with exception of the 3 flywheel bolts, covers down there and oil/antifreeze.
Should have it going drive it home tonight... maybe.
Gotta deal with my kid though :(
Awesome, but with the motor already in the car you wont be getting to the flywheel bolts to easy... Now if youre talking about the torque converter bolts, then yet, shouldnt be to bad! :bigwink:

Blah technicalities.

But ya. The car started up without to much issue and after some running ran even better. Let it warm up real nice then took it out for a ride. The brakes are messed up. Probably just real rusty... I knew that when I got the block tow in town here. They got a tad better but still need attention. Im going to take them off and hit them with some 400 on my orbital sander.

Ya its the GFs car, not mine. We take it EVERYWHERE we go. Its bigger, quieter and rides MUCH better than my Alero. Its just slow as all hell... Way slow... lol

It runs good. Just redid the brakes on it. All new pads/rotors. It needed it horribly bad...

Only issue is we have the check and service engine soon light on. its been on even with the old motor... It seems to get terrible gas mileage also. Hard tot ell because she refuses to fill it and use the trip odometer...

Could it be running too warm or cold? This has a huge effect on fuel economy. It could be as simple as a thermostat.

No that part works amazingly well. Previous owner put a new radiator in it shortly before the bearings went out. So the cooling system is mint. I did the T Stat when I dropped the new motor in also.

Its probably the o2 sensor... But the code scanners at the stores wont read the car, its a 95. So she has to pay like $45 to have it scanned and is just to cheap?

I dont understand it. If it was MY car I would of had it scanned and fixed thousands of miles ago. Shes just wasting gas... Oh well though. She must have her new clothes, not concerned about wasted gas... lol

:surprised
