whats up with people.

Post by Tim »

Dude comes up to me the other day and says find me a set of 12's. Okay simple enough. I make a couple calls, talk to a dude or two, and I get him a good lead on some. Talk to him today and ask if he is still interested, he says yeah, I give him the details, and then we talk money.

I tell him I can get him a set of 12's for around 130.00. BNIB. He says he dont wanna put that much in a set of 12's.

I mean I understand times is hard right now. But what do people expect, to get the stuff given to them?? I guess that is what they expect huh...

Is it me?? Am I just wiggin out, or what.

Oh well,

Tim

Guess it depends on the subs. Maybe he just wanted a pair of kicker comps or something, which are worth 130 unless they are from a dealer. Don't get me wrong, I'm actually a big for of the comps, but for 130 I can buy them at the local shop with a warrenty.

With that being said, what kind of subs did you find him?

I got an email asking me if I had any headunits in stock. I replied no but I could get some, what are you looking for.

Guy comes back and said he wants two head units for $80 total... Nothing more or less, just wants two CD decks for $80...

I told him the only place that he can get that price is at Wla Mart on the crappy Roadmaster decks.

He repliedd back " Oh well I already have a hookup I was just seeing if you could give me a better deal".

I responded back This isnt the Good Will. We cant give away products at a loss.

Evidently people think they can take advantage of others. If he truly can get two brand new decks for $80 they must be the $30 shit versions Ive seen in the books before...

The race to zero has begun. It started with the PC industry years ago. The age of the Internet is going to kill all the small businesses in America. That is unless you provide a service that is unique, or manufacture a product that is unique and bust your ass promoting it.

I wish you guys luck in your businesses, but you will never be able to help the guy looking for a deal. It is just too easy to find deals online. The guy you want is the guy looking for top quality installed. The guy that is willing to pay a few bucks more because he wants it done right. They are out there, but it is usually much harder to reel them in. The good ones are usually the ones worth working harder for.

Good point.

I understand the guys want the best deal. But where do they draw the line. I mean 130. for two subs BNIB is a good price. These people want top of the line equipment for bottom of the line pricing.

The subs in question were the autotek that terry posted about a couple weeks ago. It is hard to beat 65 apiece. Unless he just wanted used quipment, which is a possibility.

Cats and dogs, cats and dogs

With these people its best to let them find their own deals.

Its $135 for subs and box.

$50 for an amp.

Oh wait now I need wires. Tim you bad friend that $50 was to include wires! You owe me wires Tim! You big jerk... and so forth.

I would make your suggestion and let them figure it out from there. For $135 I got some REs sitting here :)
