window's 2000 question.

Post by MobileAudio219 »

My friend of mine has a computer with windows 2000, he got the computer from his dad for his kids to use (the dad bought a new one.)

I guess one of the kids switched the password to the admin account (the only account, the guess account wasnt on) so now they cant get onto the computer (they dont know the password.)

So my question is, how do you get onto the computer without the password. Or better yet, how to you change the password for the admin without being able to get onto the admins account (or any account for that matter?)

Figured it out..

If anybody ever has this problem, do the following steps:

Wait until the log in page pops up.

Hit contrl-alt-delete twice in a roll.

That will bring up the classic windows log in.

Type Administrator for the log in name, leave the password blank.

Bam, youre in. :inout

I ended up with an upgraded notebook (larger hard drive) at Office Depot for that reason. I had already paid for the one on display, which happened to be the last one they had. The employees couldn't get by the login password which someone probably misspelled, so I was given the next model up for the same price. Had the known about this, I would have the original notebook I paid for - lucky me ;)

It's amazing what a google search will do. I called my buddy and told him how to do it, and sure enough it worked. :D

He's going to buff my truck for telling him how to do it.
