Linux Question

Post by cargodz »

So is anybody using Linux currently?
I just loaded it to my laptop side by side with windows so I have an either or choice on it, but I gotta say I love how blazing fast the laptop is with Linux.

I've have used a bunch of different linux distros on PCs and used a few application/database servers that were linux at work.

It is very nice, I keep on one machine at all times. Right now I have it on a laptop but the laptop screen isn't working so I don't use it much (pain to plug it into a monitor all the time)

Unbuntu seems to be the best all around I think. Mint Linux is pretty good too. I don't usually keep one on any of my pc's because I use windows for too much crap.

I always keep a bootable Linux disc handy though. I have an older version of Knoppix that does good.

I used Kunbuntu before I could afford Vista on this machine.

Its free, loads fast and does the basics.

Mandriva is really good but it takes a little more memory than other versions of Linux. you can get a slow machine to run fast if you use linux.

I wanted to go with the 8.10 but I don't have a 64... so I went with the 8.04
I did however make a CD of both as I may put the 8.10 on my Dad's new computer
I'm gonna start digging into Linux more as so far I LOVE it :D
