finally bought me some components
finally bought me some components
i bought the alpine SPR-17S components. now all i need is an amp. i was thinkin of going with a one of the kicker zx 4 channel amps but im not sure. i know someone who is an authorized dealer who can get me one for 150$ with a 1 year warranty. any one got any ideas on what amps are out there that go good with these components? no more than 250$
About any amp will work with these. Those are some good speakers, so it wont take much. I dont think kicker is the best bet, IIRC people have had trouble with them on here. Why not try an Alpine amp?? It really depends on personal preference.
You may wanna check the for sale section.

Any decent name amp should be fine. Avoid the boss, etc. Also make sure it close to what you need power wise.

4 x 110-Watts RMS @ 2-Ohms
2 x 220-Watts RMS @ 4-Ohms
The components are 4 ohm, so you're either going to be giving them half their rms, or double their rms...
I've had good luck with all the kicker gear I've owned.
Most of the people who experince problems with kickers stuff are people who had bad installs (rather they did it or a shop.)
The only real problem with kicker is they are mainstream, very easy for a newb to get...
Brands like FI, IA, RE, SDA, ect get rave reviews because they're usually bought by actual enthusiast who can do good installs (are know that its important to take it someplace who knows what they're doing.) And I can tell you, just because somebody is a kicker dealer, it doesnt mean they know what they are doing... BELIEVE ME!!!!!!!
It's all in the install...
And you got to remember, kicker sells a TON of amps, if you hear about 5-10 being "bad" I wouldnt really frown on them... They're not the best, they're not the worst, they're easy to find find and not too expensive...
Which that being said, any decent out amp that puts out close to 110 wrms per channel @ 4 ohms should work out for you...
You'd probably be better off with a TXI6408 (85w x 4 @ 4ohm) or a ZXI6410 (same) if you want a 4 channel
