ummm, Circuit City had been in business for decades. Long before the credit bubble was even a wet dream. Stilla bit sad to see them go, and sadder yet to see it handled by a really sh*tty liquidator.

Smoker, I agree with part of your theory, but would add that the Internet has undoubtedly affected the retail market just as much as the credit crunch has. The race to the bottom that is fueled by the Internet has been slowly killing all retail shops for years now. The first victims were small computer shops. Now you are seeing more people buying their TVs online. Same goes with just about anything that CC sold. BB will be the next to fall unless they sell a sh!tload of extended warranties and accessories.

im sure there were a miltitude of problems. i heard a cc spokesperson specifically say that the stores found themselves overstocked and unable to move product due in large part to more stringent standards on credit.

i think were all missing the big picture here though.,,apparantely glasswolf is having wet dreams.!!! welcome to puberty little buddy!

you are right justin, some other corp is going down the drain all the time. I am afraid it's like the 20's and 30's all over again. In the 1920's everybody was livin it up, having a big ol time, called it the Roarin 20's. Then a few years later and the 30's come along and WHAM people was bahroke, called it the depression. I think the economy will rebound it will just take time. What worries me is what is gonna happen till it does.

Circuit City started life as Montgomery Wards, in the Electronics section. Montgomery wards had been around for many decades. They went out of business something like 5 years ago, so it is only fitting that their baby die as well. Shame, but fitting

Truly sad thing is that I still miss Monkey Wards, but I won't miss Circuit City in the same way.
